Ariel took advantage of the late June sunshine to plant her Giant Russian sunflower named "Sunni" , good luck with your plant and we look forward to seeing Ariel and her sunflower in September!

Julia Harvie and her sister Melissa are back in this years competition to try for two more award winning sunflowers.  Last year's sunflowers were both over eight feet by the time of the September judging, look forward to following this summesr growing season in pictures.

            The awesome sunflower contest is back on this year, as of June first over 1,000 Giant Russian Sunflower seeds have been distributed to schools and participating garden centers around North Bay. You may still be able to pick up the free seed packets at Laporte's, Burrow's Country Store and Garden Center,  L'Ami's Garden Center and Northgate Shopping Center Customer Care Counter.

            Participating schools this year are Tweedsmuir, St Francis, St Alexander, the Roman Catholic Separate School Board and King George Public School. 

             Final competition judging will take place at Tower Court, Northgate Shopping Centre, Saturday, September  19. Good luck to all of our junior gardeners and we look forward to following your progress this summer!
