Tree North Bay     Saturday, May 24

New leaves opening on old black poplar trees mark the return of green to the heart of the community, the North Bay waterfront.

Join us Saturday, May 24 ( date changed from original May 17 account long weekend) as we plant a number of saplings around the community including the Chippewa Creek conservation corridor, the Crisis Center, Graniteville Playground and other locations in need of a tree.

If you or your group know of a good location for a tree or would like to help plant, please contact North Bay Blooms at mayne@onlink.net.

Last year Tree North Bay planted almost 200 tree saplings and seedlings around North Bay. Pictured at left, volunteers sponsored by TD Friends of the Environment and local TD Bank manager Charles Elliott,  planted mixed varieties along Chippewa Creek near Duke Street. This parkette is also home to one of North Bay's oldest living trees, an old poplar tree, estimated to be 129 years old.
